"Transformation of the Ancestors" is the story of enlightenment as told by Kittel and is thought provoking with her spoken words of intention, prayer, journey, and manifestation from the ways of the Shamanic. It also contains examples of Shamanic singing. "Shamanic Drum - For Journey Work" is a relaxing recording of Shamanic drumming intended to guide you along on your own spiritual journey. This is an album that would be perfect for those interested in learning from the stories and music of the Shamanic culture or maybe enhance their spiritual beings. "Dis Ya Music" is an upbeat number with an undulating rhythm, brass highlights, great harmonies, and lyrics that celebrates music itself. "When The Pressure Drop" is a song with more of a contemplative beat over which the vocals charms the listener with uplifting lyrics. "Frequency" is more of a funky Caribbean song with an active beat that entices one to get up and dance along. Overall, this is a highly animated and spirited Reggae album that takes on many social issues while at the same time brings forth a positive celebration of life. Fans of artists such as Bob Marley or Steel Pulse will really enjoy the well crafted tunes of "Invazion" by Fourth Dimension.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Fourth Dimension's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-34784383673206984862010-02-27T18:30:00.001-08:002010-02-27T18:30:20.372-08:00"Feed and Weep" by Manawi Thorn (Rock Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"Feed and Weep," the latest CD by the artistic group Manawi Thorn, is overflowing with dark and menacing songs of Metal/Punk Rock attitude. This group really knows how to tear it up with changing meters and hypnotic guitar licks. The track, "Jersey City Limits," offers bellowing vocals and catchy guitar driven riffs that merge together with the solid drum beats. Feel the dynamic power on, "Changeling," as the tempo starts slow then releases a burst of energy by the domination of the blaring guitars. Screaming vocals and the driving bass line gives "Narcoleptic Blues" an edgy feel while the guitars rip through the burning leads. If you like music that is rhythmically complex and runs full throttle with Metal/Punk Rock intensity, then you will enjoy the sinister songs of "Feed and Weep."

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Manawi Thorn's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-65246349178930307162010-02-20T14:35:00.001-08:002010-02-20T14:35:25.448-08:00"Bondye Vivan" by Gina Demergeau-Lasseur (Spiritual Artist from The Caribbean)

Balancing native Haitian rhythms with folk-based songs reflecting her deep spiritual devotion, Gina Demergeau-Lasseur's debut CD, "Bondye Vivan," showcases a singer with that rare gift to make it all sound so effortless. A Miami-based Haitian-American, Demergeau-Lasseur's story is grounded in music, her Haitian heritage and her strong Christian beliefs, and her album reflects all these influences with remarkable skill. Singing primarily in French, Caribbean-flavored, up-tempo numbers like "Sa se lanmou" and "Rele Jezu" shimmer like the waters that lap the Haiti seashore, while on the moving and timeless title track, "Bondye vivan," the singer's reverence needs neither simile nor translation. Who knew there are so many variations of different types of laughter? This album will show all of them to you and as you listen to each and every track you will be laughing right along with them. "Laugh 10" is a track with a high-toned woman cackling in the foreground with a boom like voice occasionally laughing in the background. "Laugh 2" sounds like a couple of people just rolling on the floor having a spirited chuckle. The last track, "Compilation Laugh" is a long recording compiled of all of the other recordings so that one has a steady stream of laughter to listen to. This album is perfect for those who enjoy avant-garde spoken word pieces, want a recording that will make them chuckle due to infectiousness, or could use recordings of laughter for another media purpose. The title track on her new 5-song CD, "Young Girl," is a contemporary and sophisticated slice of R&B with an irresistible hook and savvy production flourishes. Like Alicia Keys, another singer who started young and carved out her path to success by writing and trusting her own considerable abilities, Londyn displays that same confidence in abundance. In addition to a capella and instrumental versions of the terrific "Young Girl," her other originals, "Crush On U" and "Dirty," are Beyonce-like urban anthems that show Londyn is no one-trick pony. A special performer boasting a great voice and that special something that, for lack of a better word, translates to artistic vision, Londyn's "Young Girl" CD will impress any fan of contemporary, street-smart - and radio-ready, R&B.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy Reviewer Team
Check out LONDYN's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-4431637848027414692010-01-22T19:25:00.001-08:002010-01-22T19:25:34.742-08:00"Live at the Martin Theater, Vol. 1" by Lucky Mud (Folk Artist from Florida(FL))

Recorded live from the Martin Theater in Panama City (FL) for public radio station WKGC, Lucky Mud's latest CD is a showcase of original contemporary folk music that's pure down-home Americana. With only acoustic guitar backing, husband and wife duo Mike and Maggie McKinney trade off lead vocal duties over the course of 16 songs that range from Mike's beautifully melancholic "Evangeline," to Maggie's wonderful show-closer, "Ride the Pony." Opening with the infectious "Radio Intro," a short ditty for the host station that's a throw-back to old-time live radio programs, Lucky Mud sets the tone for a set long on heartfelt narratives of simple joys and bittersweet truths. Maggie's "Mississippi Queen," with its bluesy refrain, and Mike's "Born to Honky-Tonk," a Jerry Jeff Walker-ish tune complete with yodels, hint at Lucky Mud's musical reach, but it's the duo's milk-and-honey harmonies – as on the aching ballad, "Silver Spoon" – that wraps their sound up into one neat package. Presumably the 1st of a series, Lucky Mud's "Live at the Martin Theater, Vol. 1" CD is a terrific mix of tuneful and meaningful folk songs as rich as the American musical traditions they reflect.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Lucky Mud's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-59151946626821779512010-01-20T18:06:00.001-08:002010-01-20T18:06:11.766-08:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Paul T. with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Grace of God"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Paul T. with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Grace of God"
"The Grace of God" by Paul T. puts a new and palatable spin on spiritual music. The energetic opener, "Outlaw on the Run," will grab the listener's attention right from the start with its gruff and tough vocals, razor sharp guitar, and solid beat. Showing country blues at it best, "The Richest One," with its slow and steady tempo, has an easy-flowing piano accompaniment and stirs up some thoughtful lyrics with memorable and warm vocals. Down and dirty blues is what "Dealing With the Devil" is all about with guitar and harmonica riffs complementing the powerful, driving vocals. Country flavor abounds in "Dusty" with an outstanding steel guitar and also offers some great harmony on the chorus. The compilations on this disc confidently alternate a mixture of a good old vibrant and energetic country feeling to a slow and steady blues vibe, which gives this album a nice texture. With Arrington stepping back from the mic to concentrate on his ample sax talents, this 10-song CD of mostly instrumental covers recalls no less a figure than Arrington's childhood inspiration, the renowned saxophonist and bandleader Boots Randolph. With excellent renditions of such traditional nuggets as "Rolling in My Sweet Baby's Arms," and "Rocky Top," and the jazz ambience of "Misty," "Michael Arrington, Vocal & Saxaphone" has a throwback vibe that verily channels a bygone era. In that same vein, Arrington and band tackle standards such as "Summertime" and "Tennessee Waltz" with the kind of detail and precision one would expect from seasoned vets, while a vocal take of Merle Haggard's "Big City" has all the bounce and swing of the original. Actually featuring Loretta Lynn's outstanding backing band, the album swells on polished and dynamic arrangements which, combined with Arrington's often George Jones-like vocals, turn hook-filled, engaging songs like CD-opener, "Austin," or the small-town narrative, "Jack Jolly" into instant classics. The rocking "Where You Been All Night," with Arrington's trademark sax trading riffs with a rollicking honky tonk piano, fires on all pistons, while the Hank Williams-inspired "Hank's Grave" showcases the kind of pedal steel playing to make a grown man weep. Coming from a deep musical family (with roots that reach to the Grand Ol' Opry) Arrington's brand of tradition-steeped country on "Something Old, Something Blue" (particularly comparable to Tom T. Hall) is striking in its purity and honesty on a CD sure to resonate with any and all, traditional country music fans.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Michael W. Alternately flashing the kind of licks a fan of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, or Stevie Ray Vaughan would drool over, veteran rocker D. Logan Foster leads a 3-piece band through a 9-song workout of blues fire and rock dynamics with drama and flair. With wife Cassandra Roxanne (Bass) and Bennie Bee (drums) proving a rock-solid and inventive rhythm section, classic blues rock gets a makeover on the Santana-inflected "Simple Woman" while the Southern chug of "Your Eyes Give You Away" are right out of the Lynyrd Skynyrd playbook. CD-opener, "Let's Do It Again" surges with a Hendrix-like fury as Foster's slashing chops cuts through the song like lightning bolts. But in the best of power-trio traditions (e.g., Cream, Hendrix Experience, Blue Cheer), sheer sonic power is often tempered in service of the song, as on the closer, "Mississippi Blues," a blues shuffle that features Foster's earthy and down-home vocals to best effect. Classic by design and execution, The Leftovers CD, "Reheat and Serve" is anything but warmed-over: instead, it's a vibrant and charged tasting of blues-rock that will always have a place on the classic rock menu.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out The Leftovers 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-16100396190976053622010-01-18T18:35:00.001-08:002010-01-18T18:35:33.309-08:00RadioIndy is pleased to present Tom Lucas with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Red Letter Day "

RadioIndy is pleased to present Tom Lucas with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Red Letter Day "
Originally released in 1976, "Red Letter Day" by Tom Lucas is a CD packed with the truest form of American Rock. Lucas' lyrics deal with the never-ending political issues of our time and don't hold back on his sentiments. Close your eyes and listen to Lucas' vocals as they are pure, crisp, and simple, whereas you might even think you are hearing Neil Young. "Babylon Rising" is piano-driven with an energetic Blues/Rock tonality. The original album contained nine tracks, but the addition of a new track, "Stars In The Night," gives the listeners a taste of nice harmonies and moving beats. The ballad-like song, "Days Numbered," displays emotive vocals and laid-back piano interplay. The entire collection of music on this album is straightforward and well-produced. Fans of Bob Dylan or Neil Young will most certainly want to add Tom Lucas' "Red Letter Day" to their collection of politically-charged albums.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Tom Lucas 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-41433378625182150282010-01-12T18:16:00.001-08:002010-01-12T18:16:35.700-08:00"Pick Your Face Up Off The Floor : The Remixes" by Farrad (Pop Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"Pick Your Face Up Off The Floor : The Remixes" by electronic/funk artist Farrad, is a collection of 12 unique dance remixes of the title song, and includes the bonus track, "Praise 2 The DJ." Although the album primarily fits into the dance or techno genre, the influence of 80's rock and pop as well as hip-hop and R&B are a part of the mix. The tracks move from steady beats to ecstatic ones to slower ones, but all charge the listener to get up and dance their heart out. The "Ron Kurti Remix" is particularly unique in that it has the bass line of good Detroit house, but also features the mesmerizing influence of DJ Tiesto which, when brought together, makes for a high energy dance track - for all of six minutes. On the "JJ Appleton Remix," a funky discotheque theme is more prevalent. The mood is bubbly on this track while the bass line remains thumping. This album is a stepping stone for this artist and listeners of the dance genre should keep an eye on him as his music is sure to grow in popularity in the new year.

-Trent C. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out FaRRad's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-4338879044254138382010-01-12T17:38:00.001-08:002010-01-12T17:38:30.450-08:00"Season's Greetings" by Manjia Luo (Easy Listening Artist from Australia)

Manjia Luo's latest release is a holiday-themed album called "Season's Greetings." However, it is not an album filled with your traditional Christmas songs. Instead, it contains a mix of original pieces that express holiday cheer through a tranquil mixing of Western and Eastern sounds. "Seasons's Greetings" is a placid and calming song with beautiful harp playing that comes off as a holiday number, even though it is not one you would have known before. "Tranquil Mood" is a wonderful piano piece featuring playing that evokes the full range of the instrument. "Back to Childhood" is a song that mixes Eastern and Western influences in its use of violin, beautifully telling a wordless story through melody alone. Manjia Luo's "Season's Greetings" explores the quieter and more peaceful side of holiday-inspired music with grace and delicacy. It's perfect for those who enjoy new-age relaxation music, or for those who would like excellent background music for a warm winter's get-together.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Manjia Luo's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-2841207998258683542010-01-12T17:11:00.001-08:002010-01-12T17:11:59.549-08:00"B2" by Experience Deluxe (Electronic Artist from Germany)

Experience Deluxe's latest CD is known as "B2." It is an album which consists of music that could best be described as electronic lounge music, as it is mostly vocal-less, electronic music aimed at creating a variety of moods for the listener. "Clean da House" is a swiftly paced, bass-led jam in which other instruments fade in and out, adding subtle complexity; it's a song that truly would be great to listen to while you clean your house. "Rum Around?" is an edgy track with a sci-fi sound and a driving rhythm. "Sunset Breeze" is a more tranquil number with a subdued beat and calming background embellishments. "B2" is a CD for those who appreciate music's ability to transport one's mind to places the body cannot go, or for those who like to have distinctive and relatively energetic lounge music for when they entertain or need background music. So let Experience Deluxe take you away with their illustrative album "B2."

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Experience Deluxe's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-13295195937408783992010-01-11T17:08:00.001-08:002010-01-11T17:08:57.153-08:00"Raise It Up Bring It Down" by Beth Schafer (Acoustic Artist from Florida(FL))

Fittingly, Beth Schafer reaches new heights on her latest CD, "Raise it Up Bring It Down," a spirited and engaging 14-track album that finds the accomplished singer-songwriter continuing to hone her craft with the skill of a confident artist. With contemporary folk and California-esque folk-rock (a la The Eagles, Shawn Colvin) underpinnings, Schafer's honey-toned voice delivers original songs of deep faith and abiding hope that are as tuneful as they are meaningful. CD-opener, "Raise it Up", kicks it off with a mid-tempo rocker featuring meaty lead guitar licks and the kind of hook Melissa Etheridge used to reel off in her sleep. The solemn and beautiful, "Prayer of the Workin' Man," is stripped down to bare essentials, but no less powerful in its message and delivery. "Modim Anachnu Lach" trades off between a Hebrew chorus and English verses in a lively song of spiritual triumph, while "Adama" is like a modern sing-along, reminiscent of - but more rhythmic, than campfire standard, "Wimoweh." With catchy, smart and uplifting compositions, a wonderful voice that never wavers in its commitment to the song, and a band that's as tasteful as it is proficient, Beth Schafer's new CD, "Raise it Up Bring It Down," is a winning combination of artistry and sheer talent.

-Rice B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Beth Schafer's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-19489504916920259322009-12-22T19:01:00.001-08:002009-12-22T19:01:53.893-08:00"Del Castillo" by Del Castillo (Latin Artist from Texas(TX))

The Latin Rock fusion band Del Castillo and their self-titled album is a thorough blend of styles from all around Latin America and Spain coupled with sultry, romantic, and even tragic lyrics. All thirteen tracks will pull the listener into dramatic sounds of flamenco guitars and the lively beats of conga and bongo drums. "Boricua del Cielo" is a flamenco salsa crossover that opens the CD giving a perfect introduction to the style of this band. The song speaks of an enchanting woman who seems to have 'magic' in the way that she dances. The harmony in this track brings a lot of life to the lyrics and it's near impossible to not dance or at least want to when listening. "Anybody Wanna" is a Spanglish cumbia-rock combo that has an easy going sound throughout the track, but invites the listener to dance at the same time. A standard drum set is prominent in this track and the lead singer's strong vocal range is fully showcased. Where the Gypsy Kings and Los Lonely Boys met is where Del Castillo was created. This is a CD that can and will be enjoyed by aficionados of multiple musical tastes.

-Trent C. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Del Castillo's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites
RadioIndyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09244432637973539747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6129814148501063196.post-14813672519697529192009-12-20T15:05:00.001-08:002009-12-20T15:05:17.710-08:00"Me and Mrs. Jones" by Tony Ocean (Easy Listening Artist from Illinois(IL))

Tony Ocean doles out skill and passion with his new CD, "Me and Mrs. Jones." While his cover of the Billy Paul classic is well done and worthy of being a title track, the Robbie Robertson-penned "Out of the Blue" provides Ocean with the perfect canvas for the kind of deep and soulful delivery the song demands. This album stays nothing but smooth throughout, but still holds some edge and emotion with Ocean's strong vocals. "Someone Like You" has all the elements this album is about: passion, beautiful piano, and catchy melodies. Another gem is the last track, "Be Honest," a duet with a female singer. This album makes use of fresh Hip-Hop beats while the artist raps in his native Jamaican dialect or patois. The deep and slow track "Mama Love" is inspired by the artist's mother and while it is very emotional, it sticks to the solid beats. "Da Wah Dah" is a very danceable dancehall track featuring artists Marlon and Pink Bling that will make the listener want to play it over and over again because of its catchy hook. "Eyez On Me" is another dancehall tune, reminiscent of Sean Paul, that makes an innovative use of voice machine effects over a progressive beat; it's impossible to not move at least one part of your body when this track on. The Reggae and Dancehall styles are transforming and this album is a prime, well-done example of that. Warning! At some moments it's urban and jazzy, other times it's 80's music with some world beat flare. Female vocals, keyboards, and a drum machine make for some smooth, catchy, and fun songs. The album is best represented by the track, "Out of Control," as it has a fast paced world drum beat, jazzy saxophone, and a funky bass line that really moves. The stand out single is "All I Know" as this song offers a slower moving beat with soft and sweet vocals. "Funkmeister" will surprise you at every turn, from its ever-changing genre, to samples of George W.
