RadioIndy is pleased to present Parallel with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Superhero Madness"
"Superhero Madness" is the fourth release from Southern alternative rock outfit Parallel. This album screams mid-nineties, bringing back the heyday of the alternative rock movement with music and vocals that remind the listener of an array of their likely influences – Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, 3 Doors Down, Stroke 9, Nine Days, and Nickelback. "Superhero Madness" is lyrically diverse and filled with emotionally charged piano ballads, Southern anthems, catchy choruses and the distinct feeling that something is missing in the world. Parallel worked with seasoned, professionals producers John Kurzweg and David Cox to record the album, so it has a polished sound and is ready for the mainstream. "If You Believe" is a soulful piano ballad with a nice melody, a catchy chorus and introduces an instrument less frequently used among '90s alternative artists. "Love is Gone" is a Southern my-baby-left-me song with a powerful and gritty vocal and another inescapably catchy chorus. Overall "Superhero Madness" is an enjoyable album and an admirable continuation of a classic influential music genre. If enjoy the mid-nineties alternative rock sound, give Parallel a try.

RadioIndy is pleased to present BiGGs with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Pound-4-Pound"
"Pound-4-Pound" is a three-track southern gangsta single featuring the original, instrumental, and a capella versions of BiGGs' "Look Good." BiGGs' has the vocal ability to intimidate as well as to bring the ladies to their knees. He has a great singing voice as well as a great flow reminiscent of the Notorious B.I.G. and Lil Wayne. The backing music sequence supports this intimidation/coercion dichotomy, as you get a thick, bumping beat with subtle and varied accents and quirky yet atmospheric synths. The second track, the instrumental version of "Look Good," gives you a whole different perspective on the track and allows you to focus on the dramatic hints. The a capella version stands on its own as well; you definitely feel the rhythm without hearing it, and it paints a complete picture of BiGGs' talents as an emcee. This single is recorded excellently, so the track sounds great as a whole and broken down. "Pound-4-Pound" certainly leaves you wanting to hear more of what BiGGs has to offer the music world in both arrangement and vocals. If you enjoy the Miami style of hip-hop, you'll enjoy this CD.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Corinne Gooden with a GrIndie Award for the CD "All My Days"
"All My Days" is the impressive debut from folk singer/songwriter Corinne Gooden. Throughout the album, Gooden shows magnificent control of her voice and has an emotional inflection that heightens the personal sentiments in her writing. Her vocal performance is similar to contemporary female singer/songwriters like Paula Cole, Sarah McLachlan, and Bonnie Raitt. Gooden's lyrics are very personal and honest, and she sings them with such conviction and melody that the listener becomes hooked and must know what she'll sing about next. The musical arrangements are also quite good, highlighted by fantastic piano/organ progressions and beautiful acoustic guitar that skillfully back Gooden's vocal performance. The recording quality of "All My Days" is excellent, so the vocals and arrangements are clean and crisp, leaving nothing to be desired. The title track, "All My Days," is a slow, sad, and personal song with a piano and guitar accompaniment in which Gooden shows her tremendous vocal range. "Goodbye" is a more uptempo rock number about learning how to say goodbye to someone you don't necessarily want to ever say goodbye to. Overall, "All My Days" is a superb debut from a talented singer/songwriter that knows how to write her feelings down and vocalize them. Fans of good folk lyricists and female vocalists should check out this excellent CD.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Sherman Hunter with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Old Neighborhood"
"Old Neighborhood" is a soulful classic blues album from Sherman Hunter, a veteran of the music industry. If you are looking for a collection of songs by a bona fide bluesman, this is certainly it. Hunter brings you a full sound behind his smooth, seemingly effortless playing style and deep weathered vocals. The band is comprised of great performers, masters of their craft that really succeed in pulling together the timeless quality of the sound. The sound quality of "Old Neighborhood" is excellent: All of the songs are ready to hit your speakers crisply and cleanly. Highlights include the title track, "Old Neighborhood," which establishes the big picture right off the bat with great guitar work, horns, female backing vocals, and a quality that puts you right in the room with the band. "Stormy" is a great little jazz number that features a delicate touch and nice progressions. "I Drink Muddy Waters" is a gritty track with an energetic, wailing vocal performance and quirky guitar solos. With "Old Neighborhood," Sherman Hunter has put together an incredible blues album full of great vocal performances and professional musicianship. If you enjoy great blues guitar and a classic blues sound, pick up this album.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Dynamic Destony with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Kisses in the Evening"
"Kisses in the Evening" by Dynamic Destony is an enjoyable '80s-influenced, hard-hitting club album that features pulsing rhythms, thumping beats, and a sound comprised of many different electronic elements. This album is simultaneously energetic, aggressive, loud, and smooth, and it doesn't waste any time in giving you the urge to dance. Shades of '80s bands like Dead or Alive and Human League are ever-present in both the arrangements and the vocals, but Dynamic Destony create a unique sound by combining this with electronica and trance elements. With "Kisses in the Evening," you get power and pump as well as catchy melodies and flavorful vocals. The production quality is excellent, and the songs are all ready to spin. Standouts include the title track, "Kisses in the Evening," which bursts out of the speakers with a fat beat, strong vocals, and extreme danceability. "My Angel" features classic '80s hooks and opens a window into a bit of a darker side of Dynamic Destony's sound. "Baby Don't You Want Me" is a good choice for a closer that starts out very minimal and erupts into an epic final burst of energy. If you enjoy '80s synth pop and new wave combined with electronic and club beats, give this excellent CD a spin. http://www.radioindy.com/bands/4257/
